Located in Hangzhou, a historical city that is open, innovative, and pioneering, Hangzhou Normal University (HZNU) is a comprehensive university focusing on arts and science and fostering the development of both natural sciences and humanities.
Consisting of 23 colleges and an affiliated hospital (the Second People’s Hospital of Hangzhou), the University has more than 80 national and provincial high-level faculty members, including full-time academicians, the Yangtze River Scholars of the Ministry of Education, and recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. Currently, the university hosts one first-level discipline doctoral program, one professional doctoral program, and one specialty doctoral training program, as well as 25 first-level disciplinary master’s programs and 18 professional master’s programs. 01 Category I
Individuals at academician level are not restricted by requirements on age, educational background, professional experiences, etc.
Package: Case by case. Will provide a negotiable, competitive pre-tax annual salary, pre-tax housing allowance, and start-up fund for research. Necessary work-related necessities and research assistance will be provided.
02 Category II
Talents with academic levels and achievements up to the national major talent project plans, or famous professors, experts and scholars at home and abroad, who may be freed from the restrictions of academic qualifications, professional and technical posts and experiences. The age limit is generally not over 55 years old.
Package: pre-tax annual salary of RMB800,000-1.2 million, pre-tax housing subsidy of RMB 5 million; research start-up fund of RMB3 million-5 million in science, technology, agriculture and medicine and RMB800,000-1.2 million for humanities and social sciences. It also offers other necessary working conditions and assists with setting up an academic team and assigns scientific research assistants.
03 Category III
Talents with academic levels and achievements up to the national key talent project youth programs, or excellent post-docs from internationally renowned universities, or excellent talents with academic attainments at home and abroad.
Package: pre-tax annual salary of RMB 600,000-800,000, pre-tax housing subsidy of RMB 2.5-3.5 million, research start-up fund of RMB 2-3 million in science, technology, agriculture and medicine and RMB 500,000-600,000 for humanities and social sciences. It also provides other necessary working conditions, assist to set up academic teams and assign scientific research assistants.
04 Category IV
Professors and associate professors in high-level universities, who enjoy higher academic level than the average among professors in respective disciplines, or who have demonstrated academic attainments at home and abroad. The age limit is generally not over 50 years old.
Package: pre-tax annual salary of RMB 350,000-550,000, pre-tax housing subsidy of RMB 1-2.5 million, research start-up fund of RMB 1.5-3 million in science, technology, agriculture and medicine and RMB 300,000-500,000 for humanities and social sciences. It also offers other necessary working conditions and assist to set up academic teams. Applicants recommended by the college and appraised by the academic committee of the University, may be employed at the professorial level.
05 Category V
Talents with an academic level higher than the average among associate professors in respective disciplines, or fresh doctoral graduates from famous universities at home and abroad (ranking among the top 100 in the world or ranking among the top 10 in China), and who have made major research achievements during their doctoral studies. The age limit is generally not more than 40 years old.
Package: Pre-tax annual salary of RMB250,000-350,000, pre-tax housing subsidy of RMB500,000-1 million; research start-up fund of RMB500,000-1 million in science, technology, agriculture and medicine and RMB100,000-150,000 for humanities and social sciences. It also offers other necessary working conditions. Having been recommended by the college and appraised by the academic committee of the University, applicants may be employed at associate professorial level.
06 Category VI
Doctoral graduates from high-level domestic or foreign universities (the top 200 in the world or first-class universities in China). The age limit is generally not more than 35 years old.
Package: Pre-tax annual salary of RMB250,000; pre-tax housing subsidy of RMB500,000; research start-up fund of RMB200,000-500,000 in science, technology, agriculture and medicine and RMB75,000 for humanities and social sciences. It may also offer other necessary working conditions.
07 Other Categories
Talents, generally with a doctoral degree, who are urgently needed to supplement the teaching and research team of the university. The age limit is not more than 35 years old; for those with a senior professional technical post, the age limit is not more than 45 years old.
Package: Appointees are entitled to the same package as for national institutional personnel, and a pre-tax housing subsidy of RMB 300,000, start-up fund of RMB100,000 in science, technology, agriculture and medicine and RMB 50,000 for humanities and social sciences.

Introduction to Human Resources Policies of Hangzhou City
Hangzhou City fully supports Hangzhou Normal University to be developed into a first-class university, and all kinds of talents being enrolled in the University are entitled to enjoy the City’s talent policies and favorable conditions to carry out their work.
Maximum subsidy of RMB 8 million for house purchase

Having been approved, the purchase of the first housing unit in Hangzhou may be exempted from the city’s lottery.
Having gained the entitlement to purchase a first property in Hangzhou, it can be preferentially supplied in the proportion of no more than 20% when the newly-built commercial housing is publicly sold. This policy has been implemented as of April 1, 2020.
Foreign personnel in the National Talent Introduction Program approved by the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and the Ministry of Public Security may apply for a Foreigner Permanent Residence Permit; for high-level talents who have not yet obtained a Permanent Residence Permit, the entry validity period shall not exceed five years with a valid visit (F) or talent (R) visa for multiple entry / exit periods not exceeding 180 days. For imported talents of Classes A, B and C of Chinese nationality who have settled in the urban areas and are not subject to restrictions on their age and city of household registration, and spouses and minor children without legally fixed residence in any urban areas, collective households are allowed to settle down. If there are no minor children around after coming to Hangzhou, their unmarried adult children may move in with them.
For Classes D and E talents, their age limits can be extended to 65, and their spouses and minor children are allowed to settle in collective households.
Children’s School Enrollment
Children attending schools in urban areas will be coordinated by the district education administrative department collectively.
Those who are required to enroll in a school or kindergarten with a compulsory education section, can enjoy the same treatment as the children of Hangzhou residents. They may go to the administrative department of education in the district, county or development zone of the place where the registered permanent residence (or the actual place of residence without the registered permanent residence), or the place where the parents are working, to go through the enrollment (transfer) procedure according to the principle of proximity. An arrangement can then be made to attend the compulsory education section in a public school or kindergarten.

Refer to the second-class medical care treatment in Hangzhou (issuance of a special medical care certificate calendar card to enjoy annual health check-ups).
Refer to the third-level medical treatment of Hangzhou City (priority medical card issued to municipal medical institutions, annual health check-ups).
For those who have not gone through the registration of Zhejiang A minibus license after the implementation of the total volume control policy of the city’s minibus fleet, a passenger car registration quota is obtained through auction, and a vehicle registration subsidy may be granted, with a maximum of 30,000 yuan.
1. A lump-sum subsidy of 400,000 yuan is available for post-doctoral students coming to Hangzhou.
2. Living allowances for fresh graduates with high academic credentials: If the required conditions are met, 100,000 yuan for doctoral students, 30,000 yuan for master's students and 10,000 yuan for undergraduate students.
3.Newly introduced college students’ rent subsidies: For those who meet the required conditions, 10,000 yuan per person per year can be granted for up to three years.
